Ann M. Perna, age 79, of Hidden Lakes, Hawley, died unexpectedly Wednesday, November 8, 2006, at Mercy Hospital in Scranton. Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Carmen and Catherine(Lazzara) Strazzeri. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carmen Joseph Perna, in 1971. Formerly of Dunmore, she had been a local resident since 1955. She and her family owned and operated Pernas Restaurant for 43 years, prior to her retirement in 1997. Ann loved being with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was a great support and best friend to her granddaughter, Brenna. She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law: Jo and Michael Novitski and Cathy & Tom Kelly, all of Hawley; a sister: Michaelina Strazzeri; a brother: Louis Strazzeri, both of Scranton; two granddaughters: Toni Hvizdzak of California, MD, and Brenna Kelly of Hawley; a grandson: Carmen Novitski of San Antonio, TX; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by four brothers, Michael, Cataldo, Jack and Joseph. Visiting hours will be Sunday, Nov. 12, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM at Teeters East Chapel, 505 Church St., Hawley. There will be a Funeral Mass on Monday, Nov. 13, at 10:00 AM at BVM Queen Of Peace Roman Catholic Church, 319 Chestnut Ave, Hawley, with Rev. Richard W. Beck, Pastor, officiating. Burial will be in B.V.M. Queen Of Peace Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Deutsch Institute, which provides recreational activities for individuals with disabilities, 615 Jefferson Ave., Suite 201, Scranton, PA 18510.
