Obituary of Buford M. Pettus

Buford M. Pettus, age 77, of Lakeville, PA, died Wednesday, November 8, 2006 at Wayne Memorial Hospital in Honesdale. Born in Butler, MO, he was the son of the late Augustus Lee and Vauna (Bradley) Pettus. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, the former Susana M. Malo. He was a graduate of the University of Missouri with a BS in chemistry and was a Korean War Air Force veteran. He worked as an electronics technician for the US government instructing airmen. He was a fine teacher who could troubleshoot a variety of problems. Formerly of Rindge, NH, he had also lived in many other areas of the US due to his work. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters: Susana L. Flanders of Monson, MA, and Mariela Pelletier of Pelham, NH; three sons: Anthony L. Pettus of Kingston, NY, Norman E. Pettus of Ledyard, CT, and Patrick Pettus of Southwick, MA; a sister: Narine Hughes of La Mesa, CA; a brother: Wilfred Pettus of Eldorado, KS; and 13 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Vernon, who died during World War II. Calling hours will be Friday, Nov. 10, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM at the funeral home. The funeral will be Saturday, Nov. 11, at 10:30 AM at Teeters' East Chapel, 505 Church St, Hawley, with Rev. Teressa Sivers, Pastor of Lakeville United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Lakeville Cemetery in Lakeville, PA.
