Obituary of Lela Mae Laskey

Lela Mae Laskey, age 73, of South Canaan, Waymart, died Saturday, December 9, 2006, at Community Medical Center, Scranton. Mrs. Laskey was born May 7, 1933, in Lords Valley,and was the daughter of the late Ira and Mary (DeGroat) Travis. She was the widow of William S. Laskey who predeceased her in 1981. Lela was a member of the Pocono Bible Church in Mountainhome and former member for many years of the Blooming Grove Fire Co. Auxiliary. She graduated from Hawley High School with the Class of 1951. She had been employed as a housekeeper by Blooming Grove Hunting & Fishing Club and Lords Valley Country Club. She enjoyed cooking, baking and tending to her home. For the past 2 1/2 years she resided in South Canaan, Waymart, with her cousin and best friend Bob Sheehan. She is survived by a daughter & son-in-law, Carol and Jim Nauman of Cresco; brother & sister-in-law, Ira and Lois Travis of Hawley; brother & sister-in-law, Levi and Madeline Travis of Lords Valley, Hawley; a sister, Louise Laskey of Lords Valley, Hawley; four grandchildren, Jamie, Lauren, Doug and Jess; and 6 great grandchildren. Several cousins, including Bob Sheehan, nieces and nephews also survive. Calling hours will be Monday from 7 to 9 PM. The funeral will be Tuesday at 11:00 AM at TEETERS' East Chapel, 505 Church St, Hawley, with Pastor Barry L. Whitmer of Pocono Bible Church officiating. Burial will be in Lords Valley Cemetery.
