Helen A. Nied, of Pederson Pond East, Milford, died Sunday, December 24, 2006, at home. Mrs. Nied was born June 12, 1929, in Newark, NJ, and was the daughter of the late Robert and Dorothea (Lang) Scherer. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Robert A. Nied, whom she married in 1949. Mrs. Nied had been employed with International Sales, of Newark, NJ, prior to moving to Blooming Grove, PA, where she and her husband owned and operated Nied's Homestead for many years. They retired in 1986. Helen was past president of Junior Woman's Club of Connecticut Farms in Union, NJ, and she had been a Den Mother in Tafton, Sunday School teacher at St. Patrick's Roman Catholic Church in Milford and a member of the Middletown and Tri-State German American Club. She is survived by her husband: Robert A. Nied; two sons: Robert C. Nied and his wife, Kathleen, of Tafton, PA, and William P. Nied and his wife, Claire, of Westfall Twp., PA; grandchildren: Robert, Jonathan & Matthew Nied, and Mary Beth & Joseph Nied; and a great granddaughter: Hannah. Calling hours will be Thursday, Dec. 28, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM at Teeters East Chapel, 505 Church St., Hawley. The funeral will be Friday, Dec. 29, at 11:00 AM at St. Joseph's RC Church, 4th St., Matamoros, PA, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Augusti (Gus) Ricciardi, Pastor. Burial will be in Milford Cemetery, Milford, following the Mass. Memorials may be made to St. Jude's Mission Center, % Msgr. Ralph Beiting, 120 Chaplin Rd., Louisa, KY 41230
