Obituary of Mary E. Compton

Mary E. Compton, age 94, of Carlisle and formerly of Hawley, died Monday, January 22, 2007, at the Sarah Todd Home in Carlisle.
Mrs. Compton was born November 17, 1912, in Lake Ariel, PA, and was the daughter of the late Clarence W. and Charlotte (Kyzer) Frisbie.
She was predeceased by her husband of 68 years, John Compton, a son, Robert H. Compton, and 4 brothers, Carl, Fred, Clarence Jr. and Albert.
She was a retired packer & winder for Vacca's Mill and Sherman Mills in Hawley and operated Roadside Soda Fountain from 1939 to 1958.
Mrs. Compton was a former member of Rose Rebekan Lodge in Hawley & D.A.R., Violet Rebekan Lodge #119 in Honesdale, American Legion and VFW Auxillary.
She is survived by one son: Leo R. Compton, Sr., and his wife, Sally, of Carlisle; her daughter-in-law: Elsie Compton; two brothers: Robert Frisbie of Hawley, PA, and Zephyr Hills, FL, and Clinton Frisbie of Hawley, PA; 8 grandchildren: Billy, Jerry, Jay, Robert Jr., Todd, Ronnie, Leo Jr. & Neielle; 10 great grandchildren and 1 great great granddaughter; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Calling hours will be Friday, Jan. 26, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM. The VFW Auxillary will conduct a Memorial Service Friday at 3 PM. The funeral will be Saturday, Jan. 27, at 2:00PM at TEETERS' East Chapel, 505 Church St, Hawley, with Rev. Theodore Muller, former Pastor of Visitation, Hawley United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Green Gates Cemetery in Hawley.
