Barbara A. Smyth, age 82, of Lakeville died unexpectedly Friday, August 2, 2013, at Regional Hospital of Scranton. She was preceded in death by her husband of 36 years, Thomas C. Smyth, in 1989.
Born July 11, 1931, in Nutley, NJ, Barbara was the daughter of the late Edmond and Ellen (Miller) Leddy. She was a graduate of Tenafly High School. Formerly of Cresskill, NJ, Barbara and her husband Thomas owned and operated Blazerville Uniforms.
Barbara kept very busy in her retirement as a dedicated volunteer at the Hawley Public Library. She was also a member and mentor with Questors, a member of the DAR-Wayne/Pike Chapter. In her free time, she was an avid reader, quilter, gardener and she created some beautiful needlework.
She is survived by two sons: Craig and his wife Kathleen of Lakeville and Rodger and his wife Robin of Lackawaxen, and four grandchildren: Ryan, Melissa, Russell and Rylee Smyth.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Ed Leddy.
Calling hours will be Wednesday, August 7, from 10 AM to 12 Noon at Teeters' East Chapel, 505 Church St, Hawley, PA. The funeral will follow at 12 Noon at the funeral home. Burial will be in B.V.M. Queen of Peace Cemetery, Hawley.
