Johann C. Bakker, age 92, of Tafton died Friday, March 16, 2007 at home. Mr. Bakker was born June 26, 1914, in Patterson, NJ, and was the son of the late Aris and Marie (Wissikerke) Bakker. He is survived by his wife, the former Margaret Marge Groenewal. He was one of 9 children whose parents came to America from the Netherlands in the early 1900's. He earned a degree in mechanical engineering from Roosevelt College. Johann came to Lake Wallenpaupack in 1955, forging out a marine business which lasted until he retired in 1981. Previously, he started an apprenticeship employment in 1931 at Wright Aeronautical Corp, sponsored by the War Dept at that time. He also worked on war materials at Picatinny Arsenal in NJ. In addition, he worked at Walter Kiddy Corp and obtained a college equivalency degree in clinical psychology in the year 2000. In addition, he was a member of Blooming Grove Baptist Church. In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons: Danny Bakker and Nicholas Bakker, both of Hawley, and David Bakker of Cupertino, CA; 10 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. Cremation was held at Lake Region Crematory, Lake Ariel. A private family memorial will be held in mid-April at Green Gates Cemetery, Hawley.
