Obituary of Anna A. Banko

Anna A. Banko, age 91, of Iselin Section of Woodbridge Twp., NJ, died Tuesday, April 17, 2007 at home. Born July 12, 1915, in Johnstown, PA, she was the daughter of the late John and Anna (Krisanda) Ustupski. She was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Victor G. Banko, in 2005.
Formerly of Newar, Jersey City, and Elizabeth, NJ, and Hawley, PA, she was a professional seamstress in the garment industry for over 38 years prior to her retirement in 1975. Mrs. Banko was a member of National Slovak Society in Pennsylvania and the International Ladies Garment Workers Union. She also loved cooking, baking and knitting.
She was preceded in death by four sisters: Mary Gazdziak, Rose, Helen Woodruff and Elizabeth Olsen; and four brothers: Frank, Jack, Vincent and Joseph.
She is survived by a daughter & son-in-law: Christine & Raymond Napiorski of Iselin, NJ; son & daughter-in-law: Victor F. & Barbara Banko of Dover, NJ; two sisters: Catherine Hanko of Levittown, PA, and Irene Sabecky of Sugar Notch, PA; one brother: George Ustupski of North Lake, IL; six grandchildren: Anne Dinkel, Wayne Banko, Stephen Napiorski, Victor J. Banko, Cathy Harris and Jeffrey Banko; and eleven great grandchildren.
Calling hours will be Monday, Apr. 23, from 9:00 to 10:30AM at Teeters East Chapel, 505 Church St., Hawley. There will be a Funeral Mass on Monday, Apr. 23, at 11:00AM at BVM Queen Of Peace Roman Catholic Church, 319 Chestnut Ave, Hawley, with Rev. Martin M. Boylan, Pastor of St John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, officiating. Burial will be in B.V.M. Queen Of Peace Cemetery, Hawley.
