Obituary of Doris M. Baluta

Doris M. Baluta, age 77, of Tafton died Monday, August 12, 2013 at Wayne Memorial Hospital in Honesdale.
Mrs. Baluta was born January 24, 1936, in Bayonne, NJ, and was the daughter of the late Peter and Helen (Quadcoski) Dlugocenski. She was predeceased by two sisters, Constance Persson and Claire Rooney.
Doris dropped out of school to support her mother by working at Bamberger's Department Store in Dunellen, NJ. Doris was offered to be part of Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade while working at Bamberger's. She was also a sales representative for JC Penney in Princeton, NJ. Later she opened two country collectible/antique stores in Pennington and Princeton about 1980.
In her later adult life, she loved taking care of less fortunate children and foster children, especially during the holidays. She loved animals, was an avid gardener, loved to cook, reading, poetry, sewing, antiques and crafts.
She battled various forms of cancer throughout her life from the age of 23. She never complained, struggling with her health challenges and had a gift for gab and always left a lasting impression on those she touched. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who was spiritually grounded.
She is survived by her husband of 57 years: Leonard Baluta: one son: Christopher Baluta of Tafton, PA; one daughter: Faith-Ann Baluta of NJ; and grandchildren: Shannon and Jaime Baluta; and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be Saturday, August 17, from 3 to 7 PM at Teeters' East Chapel, 505 Church St, Hawley, PA, followed by a Prayer Service at 7 PM.
Cremation will be at Lake Region Crematory in Lake Ariel.
