Words cannot express the grief I feel. God blessed Art with a quiet passing, but it has left a huge hole in my life. Art was a friend, and he was also my mentor, confidant, and soul mate. The gift of his friendship will stay with me for as long as I live. I will smile at all the reminiscences, and I will tear in contemplation of the things we should still be planning and doing together. There will be travel, but we’ll always be one man short. There will be conventions, but we’ll always be one judge short. Life will go on, enriched by his contribution and diminished by his departure. Still, I know he’ll be there, roaming the armor tables at contests from here to eternity. Rest in Peace.

Art was more than a friend, he was a member of our family. We miss him dearly. We will always remember that wonderful smile, the contageous laugh and the sparkle in his eye. Carolyn and Art have taught us that family are those that are there for you through good times and bad times. They have taught us that a house is not a home unless it is filled with love, warmth and laughter. Art trully enjoyed his family, his friends and lived his life to the fullest. What a wonderful lesson to us all. Carpe Diem!

Dearest Carolyn,
It is always difficult to express your feelings over the loss of a friend, in this case it is impossible.
Art was many things to many people, but most of all he was a friend.
No matter how bad your day was going, Art could find a silver lining, and by his infectious smile, make you feel everything would be all right.
His charm, his humor, and most of all his graciousness made everyone he encountered feel special.
How do you express sympathy to those who had the honor of knowing him. Our sympathy should be for those who never met him.
With the joy of knowing him comes a great sense of loss knowing that this was a once in a lifetime experience, and there is the greatest loss of all.
With Love and Sympathy
Bernie and Marie Sweeney

I was deeply saddened to hear of Art's death. I was especially sad since I had not checked my email for a couple of days and thus did not hear of the arrangments until after things had already happened. My wife and I had just seen Art & Carolyn in California at the IPMS National Convention. They were on their way to Alaska with some other friends from the convention. Rest in Peace Old Friend

To know Art and Carolyn is to love them for their good natures, sincere appreciation of friends, and warmth. Art's untimely passing doesn't stop that love. Love will now endure in a different way...through memories, which will last forever.
With love to Carolyn and the Spirit of Art.

I miss you.
We were like brothers, when we were kids. I liked hanging out and wrestling with you. Although we had limited time together as adults, I thought of you often.
I'll never forget when we reconnected this April and promised to stick together in our golden years.
May your soul rest in peace.

One semester in college I had to prepare a economics project. Needless to say I was not excited about it. I made a phone call to Art and he helped me through the entire project by phone. The project was about the stock market crash, which he was going through presently at his work. I will miss Art so much.I will miss his smile and how he loved to give me a hard time. I will miss seeing him and Carolyn together. They are truly one of the same.
I love you Art, and I love you Carolyn.

Maybe this will be the last candle, maybe it won't. Nearly two weeks have passed and I know that empty space you filled in my heart will always be there. Days pass and life goes on and we do the things that we have to do - and this is how it should be - you'd be the first to say that. But know I will miss everything about you, every day of my life. Brothers and sisters have a special bond. I'll miss how much you loved me and how much you meant to me. I'll never forget how lucky we were to have eachother. I guess it's just never long enough. Rest well my dear brother, you're always with me.

IN THE 3 YEARS WE KNEW ART,A WONDERFUL, CLOSE FRIENDSHIP DEVELOPED THAT WE WILL LONG CHERISH. TO ME, ART WAS MORE THAN A FRIEND, HE WAS MY BUDDY. WE SHARED MUCH IN COMMON. SAME AGE, US ARMY BACKGROUND,SAME INITIALS AND SIMILAR SEMI-WARPED SENSE OF HUMOR. TO ALL WHO KNEW ART, IT WAS APPARENT THAT HE WAS DEVOTED. DEVOTED TO CAROLYN, DEVOTED TO HIS MANY FRIENDS, DEVOTED TO HIS HOBBY AND DEVOTED TO FAWN LAKE. WHATEVER ART WAS DOING WAS DONE WITH AN INCREDIBLE SENSE OF HUMOR. Art, you will be missed by so many, including me. I'll always remember the many nights around your kitchen counter discussing the community, not always agreeing, but respecting each other enough to disagree and always remain friends. Your quick sense of humor, along with your friendship, will always be missed. Fawn Lake won't ever be the same......

My relationship with Art is very hard to explain or put into words. He is so many things to me. He is my Brother-in-law who is really my brother, he is my friend, he is my confidant who will live in my heart and the hearts of Karen and our boys forever. After forty years I know him very well. He was always a kind and extremely generous man who would do anything at all for myself, Karen and especially our boys who he loved more than words can describe. Both he and Carolyn have brought us great joy.
After learning of the horrible news last Thursday we came up to Fawn Lake as quickly as possible and arrived that morning to a house full of people. While still in a state of shock, I began to meet some of the people, but mainly I observed them. What I saw made me realize that in seeing Art through my eyes and in the context of my world, I knew very well the kind of person he was, however, until that point in time I failed to understand the profound effect he had and continues to have on so many good people. The degree of compassion and grief shared by so many of these wonderful people is truly a testament to the effect that he had on everyone he met.
The one truth that is clearly evident and shines brightly, is that by living one’s life as Art did, with honor, dignity and compassion towards others, that person will continue to live in those people’s hearts who he has touched forever. I am firmly convinced that he is at peace smiling down on all of us fortunate enough to have known and been loved by him. I am so proud to be one of those people.

There are so many thoughts that are only now entering our minds about all the fun times that we had with Art and Carolyn over the years and that there is now a tremendous void in our life without him.
For myself, as a scale modeler, Art was a mentor and a idea source for new projects. He always seemed to have a solution to whatever modeling problem I had. Looking at the awards I have won over the years, I realize that many would not be hanging on my wall had I not had the extraordinary benefit of one of the hobby's finest builders to review my work before a contest.
In return, I got great enjoyment in helping Art over his "techno-phobia" about computer issues. While model making was second nature to him he was simply amazed by his new computer toys. They seemed like magic to him.
I'm so glad we had the benefit of that final trip to Alaska with all the little anecdotes that will creep into our memory as more time passes.
Again, we extend our deepest sympathies to Carolyn and hope to continue the fun times, with Art's spirit keeping watch, with her as well.
