Walter L. Lubey, age 80, of Hawley and formerly of Levittown, NY, & Farmington, MI, died Thursday, December 27, 2007, at Wayne Memorial Hospital in Honesdale, PA. Mr. Lubey was born November 27, 1927, in Woodside, Queens, NY, and was the son of the late John and Margaret (Gilday) Lubey. He served in the Army during the Korean War. He retired in 1987 as a Marketing Executive for GM. Walter was an avid Cricket Hill golfer and long suffering Rangers fan. He is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years: Virginia "Jinny"(Fanning) Lubey; was a caring father to four daughters: Geri Lubey of Brooklyn, NY, Patricia Lubey and her husband Martin Librett of New York City, Barbara Piti and her husband Joe of Stewart Manor, NY, and Theresa Cullen and her husband John of Mequon, MI; two sons: John of Farmington, MI, and Jim and his wife Kathleen of E. Setacket, NY; and loving grandfather to Katey, Kerry, Kathleen, Daniel and Sean; and devoted brother to one sister: Margie Shulz of Saratoga Springs, NY. He was predeceased by two brothers: Father John and James. Calling hours will be Saturday, Dec. 29, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM at Teeters' East Chapel, 505 Church St, Hawley, PA. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, Dec. 31, at 11:00AM at Our Lady Of Grace Church, 666 Albin Ave., West Babylon, NY. Burial will be in Calverton National Cemetery, Calverton, NY. Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society, Wayne Unit, 110 4th St., Suite 9-12, Honesdale, PA 18431-1869
