Obituary of Joseph F. Sherry

Joseph F. Sherry, age 76, of Woodloch Springs, Hawley, died Saturday, February 9, 2008 at home. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, the former Mary C. McKew. Born August 29, 1931, in Brooklyn, NY, he was the son of the late Joseph F. and Ethel (Hahn) Sherry. He was a graduate of Brooklyn Prep High School and attended Pace University. A Marine Corps veteran of the Korean War, he was an accountant for Grumman Aircraft prior to his retirement in 1990. Mr. Sherry was a member of American Legion Post 311, Hawley, and the Grumman Retirement Club. He was also a member of BVM Queen of Peace Roman Catholic Church in Hawley. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters: Joan Marcayse of Glen Cove, NY, and Catherine Gibson of Huntington Station, NY; four sons: Joseph F. Sherry, Jr. of Franklin Square, NY, John Sherry of Spotsylvania, VA, Patrick Sherry of Lawrence, NY, and James Sherry of Gilbert, AZ; a brother: Richard Sherry of Brooklyn, NY; and nine grandchildren. Calling hours will be Tuesday, Feb. 12, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM at TEETERS' East Chapel, 505 Church St, Hawley, PA. There will be a funeral mass on Wednesday, Feb. 13, at 10:00 AM at BVM Queen Of Peace Roman Catholic Church, 319 Chestnut Ave, Hawley, with Rev. Richard W. Beck, Pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Green Gates Cemetery, Hawley. Memorial contributions may be made to Diakon Hospice St. John, 416 Main St., Suite D, Honesdale, PA 18431, www.diakon.org/hospice
