Obituary of Eric L. Biegler

Eric L. Biegler, age 82, of Greentown died Thursday, March 27, 2008, at Wayne Memorial Hospital in Honesdale. Born June 1, 1925, in Pirmasens, Germany, he was the son of the late Fred and Anna (Knerr) Biegler. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, the former Rose M. Schenkel.
A Sergeant in the MPs and Tankers during World War II and the Korean Conflict, he was a POW on 3 different occasions, escaping each time.
He retired as a Quality Control Inspector for Tobyhanna Army Depot in 1987. He also operated the Promised Land General Store. Formerly of West Babylon, New York, he had lived in Greentown since 1972.
He loved the Lord and children, working with the youth at his church in New York. He attended Blooming Grove Baptist Church. He was an avid reader of French Foreign Legion and Biblical stories, as well as history.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law: Anna and David Shipe of Syracuse, NY, and Erika and Jim Moore of Pittsburgh, PA; a son and daughter-in-law: Eric & Julie Biegler of Syracuse, NY; one brother: Charles Biegler of Bethpage, Long Island, NY; five grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by 4 brothers and 2 sisters.
A Celebration of his Homecoming will be Wednesday, April 2, at 12:00 Noon at Blooming Grove Baptist Church, Rt 402, Hawley, with Rev Douglas Rhine, Pastor, officiating. Private cremation will be held at Lake Region Crematory, Lake Ariel.
