Obituary of Albert C. Coutts

Albert C. Coutts, age 82, of Paupack died Sunday, September 14, 2008, at Wayne Memorial Hospital in Honesdale. Born July 16, 1926, in Paupack, PA, he was the son of the late George E. and Anna (Gumble) Coutts.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, the former Janet BeatriceVerrill.
A graduate of Hawley High School, Class of 1944, he joined the Army and served stateside during World War II. On Dec. 25, 1950, he was shipped from Japan to Korea, where he was a member of the 25th Division, 27th Infantry Wolfhounds and earned two Purple Hearts.
He was co-owner of Pocono Construction prior to his retirement in 1990.
A member of Paupack United Methodist Church, he was the Sunday School Superintendent for 50 years, an adult Sunday School teacher, certified Lay Speaker and a Lay Leader for many years. He was also a choir member and President of the church's Men's Group. In addition, he was a member of the Paupack 55+ Club, an active member of the Wallenpaupack Historical Society and spent many years with 4-H, including as a leader. He formerly sang with NEPA Barbershop in Honesdale.
He was a proud husband, father and grandfather.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter and son-in-law: Amie B. & Ernest Subbe, Jr. of Pen Argyl, PA; two sons and daughters-in-law: Albert L. & Marilyn Coutts of Paupack, PA, and David H. & Jane Coutts of Staatsburg, NY; one sister: Beatrice Martin of Blooming Grove, PA; four brothers: George E., Donal and James, all of Paupack, and Harold of San Antonio, TX, six grandchildren: Lindsay, Pamela, Patricia, A.J., Kyle and Peter; one great grandchild: Cody; and many nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by three brothers, Robert, Richard and Eugene.
Calling hours will be Thursday, Sept. 19, from 9:30 to 11:00AM in the Narthex of Paupack United Methodist Church, Route 507, Paupack, PA. The funeral servie will be Thursday at 11:00 AM at Paupack United Methodist Church, with Rev. Robert B. Kolvik-Campbell, Pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Paupack.
