Obituary of Carolyn H. Morris

Carolyn Louise (Hedger) Morris, age 79 of Woodloch Springs in Hawley, died October 20, 2008, at home with family and under hospice care. Born March 4, 1929, in Rockville Centre, NY, she was predeceased by her parents, F. Howard and Natalie Comegys Hedger. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, John D. Morris, on Oct. 14, 2008. Mrs. Morris earned her undergraduate degree from Western College (now Miami University) in Oxford, OH. A veteran teacher for over 30 years, she taught at Wing Elementary School in Islip, Long Island, NY, until her retirement in 1985. An Altar Guild member and Sunday School teacher at St. Peters By The Sea Episcopal Church in Bay Shore, NY, she was a founder of the Sunshiners and a charter member of many organizations at Woodloch Springs. She is survived by three sons and their wives: James and Janet Morris of Katy, TX, Donald and Valerie Morris of Richmond, VA, and John and Angela Morris of Clifton, VA; two brothers and their wives: Robert and Karen Hedger of Corea, ME, and John Spencer and Islay Hedger of Brevard, NC, and Naples, FL; eight grandchildren; six great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and relatives; and countless friends. A joint Memorial Service for John and Carolyn will be held on Sat., Oct. 25, at 10:30AM at Grace Episcopal Church, 9th and Church Sts., Honesdale, with Rev. Edward Erb, Rector, officiating. Cremation will be at Lake Region Crematory in Lake Ariel, PA. Memorials may be made to Grace Episcopal Church, 9th and Church Sts., Honesdale, PA 18431 or Wayne Memorial Hospice, c/o Wayne Memorial Hospital, 610 Park St., Honesdale, PA 18431.
