Obituary of Georgia B. Bennett

Georgia B. Bennett, age 90, of Cornwall Manor, Cornwall, PA, died Saturday, November 1, 2008, at Cornwall Manor. Born December 28, 1917, in Mifflintown, PA, she was the daughter of the late George and Elizabeth (Wright) Broadbent. She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Russell A. Bennett, in 2004.
Mrs. Bennett was a graduate of Mifflintown High School of Mifflintown, PA, and Central Penn Business College of Harrisburg, PA. Formerly of Hawley and Philadelphia, she had been a legal secretary to Charles Morris Hamilton of Philadelphia, I. Reines Skier of Hawley and Edward J. Pennell of Mifflintown; and was a stenographer to the US Army Corps of Engineers.
Mrs. Bennett was a member of Harriet Green Chapter #198 of the Order of the Eastern Star, Hamlin; past Matron of Hawley Hope Chapter #9; and a former volunteer at the Helen Decker Blough Public Library of Hawley. She had also been a longtime member of the Hawley United Methodist Church.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law: Richard and Mary Jo Bennett of Williamsburg, VA; a sister: Eleanor Jones of Melbourne, FL; two granddaughters: Jennifer Allen and her husband Michael and Holly Bennett; two great grandsons: William and Wesley Allen; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a son, David, and four siblings, Robert, Gladys, Marguerite and Elizabeth.
Memorial service will be held at 10:30AM on Sat., Nov. 8, at Hawley United Methodist Church, Maple Ave., Hawley, PA, with Rev. Martin L. Cox, Jr., Pastor, and Rev. Ted Mueller, Former Pastor of Visitation, officiating. Friends may call from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM on Wed., Nov. 5, at Teeters East Chapel, 505 Church St., Hawley. Private burial will be in Green Gates Cemetery, Hawley.
