Suzan M. Devroe, age 85, of Cedar Crest Village, Pompton Plains, NJ, died Sunday, November 2, 2008 at Chilton Memorial Hospital in Pompton Plains. Mrs. Devroe was born February 10, 1923 in Chicago, IL and was the daughter of the late William and Sue (Born) Visser. In 1926, Suzan and her parents moved to Croissy sur Seine, France returning back to the United States in 1941. Early in her life she worked at the Netherlands Information Bureau, the Dutch Room at the Seaman's Church Institute and volunteered for the American Red Cross all in New York City. She is survived by two sons & daughters-in-law: William Peter & Bette Devroe of Wayne, NJ, Robert Freddy & Jacky Devroe of Ocala, FL; daughter-in-law, Debbie Devroe of Kingwood, TX; Special grandmother (Oma) to Brenda & Gregory Soghikian, Bonnie & Khalid Malik, Brian Devroe & fiance Kara VanderWall, Teresa & Michael Brown, Eric & Fiona Devroe, Joshua & Lisa Devroe, Jennifer & Perry Fuhrmann, Katherine & John Black, Nettie & Chris Cacossa, Peter & Melanie Devroe, Colin & Eliza Devroe. Loving great grandmother (great Oma) to Will, Sierra, Mattie, Jahan, Lauren, Justin, Logan, Ethan, Leyana, Deyana, Keri, Kalie, Larkin, Tyler, Ethan, Gavin, Peter and Jessica. Suzan was predeceased by her husband of 61 years, Peter B. Devroe and a son, Harry James Devroe. Private memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family. Memorials may be made to the donor's favorite charity.
