Obituary of Michael J. O'Shea

Michael J. O'Shea, age 70, of Hawley, died Thursday, November 27, 2008, at Wayne Memorial Hospital in Honesdale. Born July 19, 1938, in Brooklyn, NY, he was the son of the late William L. and Savaria (Villamena) O'Shea. He is survived by his wife of 37 years, the former Brenda J. Kramer. Formerly of Bayside, Queens, NY, he had served in the US Air Force. A Hawley resident for 39 years, he retired as a custodian from Wallenpaupack Area High School in 2002. Mr. O'Shea was a member of American Legion, Wilson-Kelch Post 311, Hawley, and he also loved to hunt and fish. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a brother and sister-in-law: Robert and Rayleen Mirra of Staten Island, NY; a sister-in-law and her husband: Margaret and Warren Jaggars of Hawley; three nieces: Andrea Knapp and her husband Tim of Hawley, Christina Quinn of Pleasant Mount, PA, and Cynthia Hnatko of Hawley; four nephews: Floyd Quick and his wife Jacquline and Jacob Jaggars, all of Hawley, and Robert Mirra Jr. and Joseph Mirra, both of Florida; and many great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, William O'Shea. Calling hours will be Sunday, Nov. 30, from 5 to 8 PM at Teeters' East Chapel, 505 Church St, Hawley, PA. The funeral will be Monday, Dec. 1, at 10:00 AM at Teeters' East Chapel, with Rev. Richard W. Beck, Pastor of BVM Queen of Peace RC Church, officiating. Burial will be in Indian Orchard Cemetery, Honesdale. Memorials may be made to American Diabetes Assoc., 63 North Franklin St., Kirby Health Center Annex, Wilkes-Barre, PA 18701 or American Heart Association NEPA District, 71 N. Franklin St., Wilkes-Barre, PA 18701.
