Obituary of Olive Helen Powell

Olive Helen Powell, age 94, of Hawley died Thursday, January 1, 2009, at Mallard Meadows Personal Care Home, Waymart. Mrs. Powell was born February 23, 1914, in Scranton, PA, and was the daughter of the late Henry E. and Amelia (Armbrust) Foss. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Oliver Powell, in 1964. Formerly of Scranton, she was retired as an Underwriter for PA Workmen's Compensation in 1977. Her family would like to extend sincere thanks to the staff at Mallard Meadows and Hospice Home Health Care for the exceptional care given to Olive. She is survived by a sister: Romayne Byers of Hawley, 11 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, 4 great great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son, Ronald Burton Powell, and a grandson, Tim. A Memorial Service will be held at Hawley United Methodist Church on Saturday, May 23 at 11 AM.
