Obituary of Edward Andrew Anderson

Edward Andrew Anderson, age 89, of Rowland Hill, Rowland, died Saturday, February 7, 2009, at Wayne Memorial Hospital, Honesdale. Born August 14, 1919, in Brooklyn, NY, he was the son of the late Andrew and Margaret (Svenson) Anderson. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, the former Kathleen "Kay" Cudahy. A World War II Army Air Force veteran, he retired as a home builder in 2003. Formerly of West Hempstead, LI, NY, he had been a resident of Rowland since 1968. He was a member and past president of Bernt Balchen Lodge #56 of the Sons of Norway. An avid hunter and sportsman, he was a member of Hillview Rod & Gun Club and was formerly a Mason on Long Island. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son and daughter-in-law: Edward Andrew "Skip" and Gail Anderson Jr. of Rowland, PA; a daughter: Joan Kathleen Kiesendahl of Hawley, PA; five grandchildren: Robert, Matthew, Ben, Alison and Bradley; and six great grandchildren. He was predeceased by a brother, a sister and two great grandchildren. Calling hours will be Monday, Feb. 9, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM at Teeters' East Chapel, 505 Church St, Hawley, PA. The funeral will be Tuesday, Feb. 10, at 11:00 AM at Bethel Lutheran Church, Church Road, Rowland, with Rev. Norman R. Beighley, Pastor, officiating. Cremation will be held at Lake Region Crematory, Lake Ariel. Private burial will be held at a later date at Rowland Cemetery, Rowland, PA. The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to Bethel Lutheran Church, Church Road, Rowland, PA 18454 or BK Cancer Fund, PO Box 406, Hawley, PA 18428.
