Dore' N. James, 84, died Monday at her home on Lake Teedyuskung while comforted by her family and closest friends. Her husband of 64 years was the late Donald G. James.
Though born in Evanston, Illinois, the daughter of Daniel E. Noe' and Elsie (Bergman) Noe', Mrs. James was a nearly lifelong resident of the Hawley region and Lake Teedyuskung. Through the years, she undertook a variety of pursuits.

Highlights of her service with the Chamber included actively promoting the Lake Wallenpaupack region with a 1967 guest television appearance on the Allan Burke Show and coordinating a visit to the region by John F. Kennedy in the early 1960's.
Mrs. James and her husband also were the former owners of the Sandy Beach Motel on Lake Wallenpaupack.
Mrs. James was an early proponent of environmental responsibility and sustainable living. She was a tireless advocate for the region's unique natural resources and its wildlife. Her activism included certified membership in the American Tree Farm System, preservation of woodland areas throughout Pike County, and participation in numerous organizations devoted to conservation.
