Obituary of Adeline B. Lennon

Adeline B. Lennon, age 98, of Greentown died Friday, July 10, 2009 at Wayne Memorial Hospital, Honesdale. Born June 1, 1911, in Dunmore, PA, she was the daughter of the late John and Ursula (Gutowska) Cykosky. She moved with her family to Greentown in 1916. She was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Martin Lennon, in 1982. Together they had owned and managed Hemlock Point Cottages and Hemlock Point Development. Mrs. Lennon was past president of St. Mary's Ledgedale Altar and Rosary Society and past president of American Legion Auxiliary DeGroat-Hazer Post. A member of St. Veronica's Roman Catholic Church and devoutly religious, she provided flowers for St Veronica's Church altar from her flower garden for over 40 years and hosted prayer group meetings in her home for over 20 years. She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law: Barbara and Grover White and Bernadine Lennon And Jon Tandy, all of Greentown; one sister: Genevieve Cykosky also of Greentown; three granddaughters: Maureen Dewey and her husband, Thomas, of Shohola, Debbie Hussung and her husband, Sam, of Lake Ariel, and Michelle Maddox of Greentown; five great grandchildren: Jimmy Maddox, Kyla and Meghan Dewey, and Angela and Nicholas Hussung; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by seven siblings: Constance Marhefka, Pearl Cykosky, Antoinette Jadczak, John, Anthony, Edward and Joseph Cykosky. Calling hours will be Tuesday, July 14, from 1:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Family Home on Route 507. A Rosary Service will be held at the house at 6:00PM on Tuesday officiated by Rev. Edward Scott, Pastor Emeritus of St. Thomas More and St. Mary's Roman Catholic Churches. Friends and neighbors are asked to go directly to St. Veronica's Roman Catholic Church on Wednesday, July 15, at 10:00 AM where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Richard W. Beck, Pastor. Burial will be in B.V.M. Queen Of Peace Cemetery, Hawley. Memorials may be made to Tafton Fire & Rescue, Tafton, PA 18464
