Joy E. Pfeifer, age 78, of Wallenpaupack Lake Estates, Lake Ariel, died Monday, August 3, 2009, at Mercy Hospice in Scranton. Born January 14, 1931, in Plainfield, NJ, she was the daughter of the late Paul W. and Ellen Margaret (Nielsel) Blidsoe. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, John C. Pfeifer Jr. A resident for 37 years, she was retired as Collection Administrator for Wallenpaupack Lake Estates. Formerly of Holmdel, NJ, she had also been a paralegal and owned a beauty salon in New Jersey. Mrs. Pfeifer was an EMT with Hamlin Fire & Rescue, was on the Paupack Twp Planning Board for 13 years and was on the Board of Directors of Wallenpaupack Lake Estates for many years. She was a member of Hamlin Assembly of God Church. In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter and son-in-law: Tracy and Tim McHale of Lakeville, PA; two granddaughters: Jamie and Megan McHale also of Lakeville, PA; one sister: Lillian Scholer of Virginia; and two nieces: Lise-Kirsten and Kristine. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Victoria, in 1993. Calling hours will be Thursday, Aug. 6, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM at Teeters' East Chapel, 505 Church St, Hawley, PA. The funeral will be Thursday at 8:00 PM at the funeral home with Pastor Gordon White of Pentecostal Assembly of God Church of Hamlin officiating. Cremation will be at Lake Region Crematory, Lake Ariel. Final placement will be at Fairview Memorial Park, Elmhurst. Memorials may be made to Mercy Hospice, 746 Jefferson Ave., Scranton, PA 18501
