Obituary of Mary Virginia Rahm

Mary Virginia Rahm, age 87, of Kent, CT, died Saturday, September 26, 2009, at the Kent Specialty Care Facility. Born August 21, 1922, in Tafton, PA, she was the daughter of the late Solomon and Lona (Bryant) Dirk. She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Henry C. Rahm. Formerly of Plymouth Meeting and Tafton, she worked for WF Woolworth prior to her retirement. Mrs. Rahm was a member of Tafton Fire Co. Auxiliary. Her family was her most important part of her life. She loved to cook, grow flowers and watch wildlife. In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons and daughters -in-law: Henry C. Jr. and Marilyn of Meshoppen, PA, and Elwood (Woody) and Claudia of Warren, CT; a sister: Bess Byrnes of Waymart, PA; three granddaughters and their husbands: Jennifer and Harold Riley, Emily and Terence O'Neil and Whitney and Roy Weldon; seven great grandchildren: Joseph, Joshua and Jameson Riley, Aiden and Hannah O'Neil and Benjamin and Alexander Weldon; a sister-in-law: Catherine Firmstone of Hawley, PA; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. She was predeceased by brothers Herman, William, Harry, and Glenn, and sisters Anne Wenzel, Elsie Franklin and Dorothy Whitman. Calling hours will be Friday, Oct. 2, from 12 to 2 PM at Teeters' East Chapel, 505 Church St, Hawley, PA. The funeral will be Friday, Oct. 2, at 2:00 PM at the funeral home with Rev. William Samford, Pastor of First Presbyterian Church, officiating. Burial will be in Green Gates Cemetery, Hawley. Memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church, Church St, Hawley, PA 18428
