Josephine Cerato, age 91, of Lakeville and formerly of Dunmore went peacefully to be with the Lord on October 5, 2009, after battling the complications of multiple myeloma. She was preceded in death by her husband, Martin, in 1981, and her daughter, Marialana, in 2008. Born April 1, 1918, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Rosina Cordaro. Josephine was a devout Catholic and loved her church, St. Mary's RC Church in Ledgedale. She touched many people in her journey through life. For more than 50 years she belonged to Ledgedale Volunteer Fire Co. where she served in many ways. She got her drivers license at age 65 and earned her high school diploma at age 68. Retired from Sherman Underwear Mill, she enjoyed sewing, cooking, playing cards and visiting with family and friends. Josephine is survived by two sons: Michael and his wife Donna of Plymouth Meeting, PA, and Martin and his wife Chris of Hawley; a son-in-law: Albie Sirianni of Manasquan, NJ; three siblings: Mary, Angela and Phil; seven grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews, all of whom considered her their favorite Aunt Jo. Josephine was loved and adored by her entire family and will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Visiting hours will be on Wed., Oct. 7, from 4 to 8 PM at Teeters' East Chapel, 505 Church St., Hawley. Family and friends are asked to go directly to St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, Ledgedale, for a Funeral Mass on Thurs., Oct. 8, at 10:00AM. Interment will be in St. Mary's RC Church Cemetery. Memorial Contributions may be made to Ledgedale Volunteer Fire Co. Ladies Auxiliary, 529 Goose Pond Rd., Lake Ariel, PA 18436.
