Obituary of Marie R. Williams

Marie R. Williams, age 90, of Sunny Point, Lakeville died Friday, November 6, 2009 at Bethany Village in Bethany, PA.
Mrs. Williams was born November 23, 1918 in Philadelphia, PA and was the daughter of the late Carl and Rebecca (Burris) Ritting. She was predeceased by her husband, Edwin C. Williams in 1997 and a granddaughter, Kolleen.
Mrs. Williams was a volunteer at the Hawley Library until age 90. In 2004 she received the Alma and Charles Hames Volunteer Librarian Award after completing over 25 years of service. Marie shared her passion for books and reading with students at the Wallenpaupack Area North Primary School where she also volunteered for many years. She was fond of telling children to "read, read, read." She often said, "With a book in your hand you are never alone, you can travel all over the world." Her other passion was collecting Nativities and sharing their stories with school children and her women's clubs.
She was a retired bookkeeper.
She is survived by three sons: Edwin J. & Sheila C. Williams of Lakeville, PA; Robert W. & Cyndie Williams of Glenville, NY; Kurt S. Williams of Lakeville, PA; two sisters: Merle Rieben of Sebring, FL; Ruth Sims of Rockledge, PA; one brother: Carl & Mitz Ritting of Gig Harbor, WA;
Seven grandchildren, Keith, Kathe & Spencer Williams; Scott & Brian Williams; Wendy Brook; Karen Williams; and 6 great grandchildren: Amanda Williams, Jessie and Justin Williams, Zachary Bixler, Sabrina Brook & Colleen Yeager.
A private memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family.
