Obituary of Ruth S. Woolbert

Ruth Schooley Woolbert, 97, of Greeley, PA, and formerly of Forty Fort, PA, died Fri., Jan. 8, 2010 at Wayne Memorial Hospital after suffering a stroke on Dec. 31, 2009. She was the widow of Fred D. Woolbert of Forty Fort, PA. She was the daughter of Jane Nixon Schooley and Joseph Byron Schooley. Born in 1912, she was raised at Hillbrook Farm in Trucksville, PA. She graduated from Dallas Township High School and graduated from the Dean School of Business at Wyoming Seminary, Kingston, PA. For many years, she was associated with the family marine business, Woolbert's Boats in Kingston, PA. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, David Nixon Schooley of Trucksville, PA. Ruth is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law: Jane and John Karpiak of Greeley, PA, with whom she resided, and Sara and Dr. Tom Balcerek of Columbia, SC; two grandsons: Paul John Karpiak and his wife Jennifer of Greeley, PA, and Matthew James Karpiak of Greentown, PA; three great granddaughters: Catherine Ruth, Amanda Jane and Elizabeth Alice Karpiak; her sister: Marion S. Jones of Upper St. Clair, PA; and her nephew: Sheldon Jones III and his wife Karen of Pittsburgh, PA, and Sanibel Island, FL. She was a loving and generous person who leaves behind many friends and family of all ages who will miss her dearly. A Memorial Service will be held on Wed., Jan. 13, at 11 AM at Hawley United Methodist Church, Hawley, PA, with Rev. Douglas S. Miller, Pastor of Evangelism, officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:30 to 11 AM at the church. Interment will be held at a later date at Woodlawn Cemetery, Dallas, PA. Private cremation will be held at Lake Region Crematory, Lake Ariel, PA. Because she loved to read and supported local libraries, the family requests that memorial gifts be made to Hawley Public Library, 104 Main Ave., Hawley, PA 18428. The family wishes to thank the staff of the Wayne Memorial Hospital, its Emergency Room and Wayne Memorial Hospice for their compassionate care.
