Alfred M. Herzog, age 78, of Lakeville died unexpectedly, Monday, January 11, 2010 at home. Mr. Herzog was born January 7, 1932 in Lakeville, PA and was the son of the late Frank and Virginia (Goble) Herzog. Alfred was raised by George and Julia Welsh. He served in the Navy during the Korean Conflict. He retired from construction and also worked as a custodian for Wallenpaupack Area High School for many years. Active with local basketball & softball leagues, he recently he enjoyed watching his grandkids' sporting events. He loved his family, which was most important to him. He is survived by his wife of 48 years: Barbara A.(Wells) Herzog; daughters: Julie Herzog of Lakeville, PA; Tricia Herzog of Lakeville, PA; Melissa Herzog and her companion, Peter Amato of Hawley, PA; Stacey and Frank Williams of Lakeville, PA; one son and daughter-in-law, Alfred G. & Mandie Herzog of New York; four sisters: Frances Merritt, Ruth Ruger, Eleanor Darling, Dolores Barbe; three brothers, Bernard, Frank & Leonard and five grandchildren, Ian, Riley, Quinn, Zane & Alivia; one uncle, Virgil Goble. He was predeceased by a brother, Lawrence and a sister, Evelyn. Calling hours will be Thursday, January 14th from 3 to 7 PM at Teeters' East Chapel, 505 Church St, Hawley, PA. The funeral will be Friday, January 15th, at 10:30 AM at Teeters' East Chapel, 505 Church St, Hawley. Burial will be in Lakeville Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Ronald McDonald House, 501 George St., New Haven, CT 06511.
