Obituary of Christine M. Coutts

Christine M. Coutts, age 83, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 16, 2010 at her home in Paupack with loving family at her side. Born in Honesdale to Donald and Dorothea Macdonald, Christine attended Paupack School and in 1944 graduated from Hawley High School. That summer she traveled to Washington, D.C., where she worked in the fingerprint division of the FBI. After the war she returned to Paupack, where she married George "Bud" Coutts, her beloved husband of 62 years. In addition to running Loch Highlands, a summer resort, she and George spent many years refurbishing their colonial home and its surrounding property. For many years she volunteered her time with the PTA, Paupack Methodist Church, and the Hawley Library. Christine enjoyed traveling, playing bridge, reading and doing many types of needleworks, and cooking and baking for her family. Roast beef with Yorkshire Pudding was her specialty. She was predeceased by her parents and a sister, Annaburn vonHake. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her four children, Faye and Gary Graff, Nan and Henry Brown, Dulcie Nichols, and George and Susan Coutts. She leaves behind grandchildren Jonathan, Jason, Benjamin, Kristen, Daniel, Nicholas, and Stephen, as well as seven great grandchildren, one sister, Jane Clauss and many nephews and nieces. The viewing will take place on Wednesday, May 19 from 2 to 8 PM at the family home on Ansley Rd. and form 10 to 11 AM on Thursday, May 20 at the Paupack United Methodist Church, followed by the funeral service. Interment will be in Pine Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may go to National MS Society, PO Box 4527, New York, NY 10163; Paupack United Methodist Church, PO Box 335 Paupack, PA 18451 or Tafton Fire Co., 235 Route 507, Tafton, PA 18464.
