Obituary of Gertrude Blackmore

Gertrude "Trudy" Blackmore, age 78, Bohemia, Hawley, died Wednesday, July 14, 2010, at Community Medical Center, Scranton, following a brief illness. Born December 15, 1931, in Middle Village, Queens, NY, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Adele Schulz. She was preceded in death by her husband of 38 years, Charles H. Blackmore. Formerly of New York, she had been a resident of Bohemia for 42 years. She was a retired clerk for the Pike County Commissioners, and had also been employed for many years at the Katz Factory in Honesdale. Mrs. Blackmore was a member of McDonald's Coffee Club, an active member of Senior Citizens of Wayne Co., Central Vol. Fire Dept. Aux., and Secretary of Mt. Moriah Cemetery Assoc. She is survived by two nieces and their husbands: Shelley and Keith Corey of Damascus, PA, and Mary & Les Thomas of Prompton, PA; a nephew: Richard Miller Sr. of Welcome Lake, PA; 10 great nieces and nephews; and 14 great great nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be Friday, July 16, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM at Teeters' East Chapel, 505 Church St, Hawley, PA. The funeral will be Saturday, July 17, at 11:00 at the funeral chapel with Rev. Jean Blackie, Pastor of Damascus Manor United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Moriah Cemetery, Kimbles. Memorials may be made to Mt. Moriah Cemetery, c/o Randy Wells, 983 Towpath Rd., Hawley, PA 18428.
