Obituary of Robert G. Cronin

Robert G. Cronin, age 76, of Milestone Estates, Hawley, died Wednesday, July 28, 2010, at Community Medical Center in Scranton. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Dolores (Klvana) Cronin and his eight children, Robert, WIlliam, Kathleen, Joseph, Karen, Connie, Peggy and Kevin, also survived by 13 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren and one sister, Maureen. He was predeceased by a sister, Gail.
Mr. Cronin was born August 12, 1933, in Jamaica, NY, and was the son of the late William and Margaret (Mahoney) Cronin.
After serving in the Navy, Mr. Cronin worked as a conductor for Long Island Railroad for 34 years until 1988. He was a member of American Legion and Knights of Columbus. He was also involved in the Cursillo Movement and was a volunteer at prisons on Long Island playing basketball and ministering in the prisons. In addition, he cooked for BVM Queen of Peace Roman Catholic Church for appreciation dinners and he loved golf.
Calling hours will be Sunday, Aug 1st from 4PM to 8PM at Teeters' East Chapel, 505 Church St, Hawley, PA. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, Aug 2nd at 10:00AM at BVM Queen Of Peace Roman Catholic Church, 314 Chestnut Ave, Hawley.
Burial of cremated remains will be in Calverton National Cemetery, Calverton, Long Island, NY.
