Obituary of Joseph Herman

Joseph Herman, age 74, of Hawley died Monday, October 4, 2010 at Mercy Hospital in Scranton.
Mr. Herman was born May 28, 1936, in Conemaugh, PA, and was the son of the late Demeter and Mary (Cibulas) Herman. He was also predeceased by three brothers and one sister.
After attending UPitt-Johnstown, he entered the Air Force Air Cadet Program and served in the Air Force during the Vietnam War. After leaving the Air Force, he was a pilot for TWA for 30 years. Mr. Herman recently celebrated his 50 year Air Force Reunion.
He was an active member of the Wayne-Pike Antique Automobile Club of America.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years: Ruth (Bechel) Herman; two daughters: Christine Herman of Norwalk, CT, and Kathleen Rickrode and her husband Jerry of Mountaintop, PA; three sons: John Herman of Fontana, CA, Vincent Herman of Chicago, IL, and David Herman and his wife Connie of Aiken, SC; three sisters: Peggy Cooper of San Diego, CA, Ann Schaldach of San Diego, CA, and Connie Holdsworth of Ebensburg, PA; two brothers: Robert Herman of Holidaysburg, PA, and Thomas Herman of San Diego, CA; two grandchildren: Jordyn and Christian Rickrode; and many nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, October 11, 2010, at 10:00 AM at BVM Queen Of Peace Roman Catholic Church, 314 Chestnut Ave, Hawley, by Rev. Richard W. Beck, Pastor.
Memorial contriburtions may be made to the American Heart Assoc., 71 N. Franklin St., Wilkes-Barre, PA 18701.
Cremation will be at Lake Region Crematory in Lake Ariel, followed by interment at Ft. Indiantown National Cemetery in Annville, PA.
