Martin J. Tully, age 86, of Woodloch Springs, Hawley, died unexpectedly Thursday, October 28, 2010, at Wayne Memorial Hospital in Honesdale. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, the former Ruth Marie Rourke. Born August 31, 1924, in Bronx, NY, he was the son of the late Martin J. and Lucy (Mahon) Tully. A graduate of the Pratt Institute of Arts, he was a World War II Navy veteran. A commercial artist with his own advertising agency, he retired in 1994. Formerly of Bayside, Queens, NY, he had been a Woodloch Springs resident for 20 years and was the unofficial artist-in-residence there. He was a member of BVM Queen of Peace RC Church. He loved fishing with his grandchildren as well as golfing and bowling. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters: Mary Alarcon and her husband Robert of Bellerose, LI, NY, and Karen Tully of Brooklyn, NY; three sons: Michael of Manhattan, NY, Christopher and his wife Mary Beth of Garden City, NY, and Joseph and his wife Donna of Pennington, NJ; and six grandchildren: Robert, Christopher and Elizabeth Alarcon, Caroline and Elizabeth Tully and Colleen Tully. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Kathy Alarcon. There will be a Funeral Mass at 10:30 AM on Tues., Nov. 2, at St. Gregory the Great RC Church, Bellerose, NY. Private cremation will be held at All Soul's Crematory in E. Elmhurst, NY, and later interment at St. John's Cemetery.
