I will always remember both Gerald and Dolores...So very sorry for your most recent loss. Michael, you know he was one of my favorites. I am currently in Texas and am just now finding out. May your family share in the knowledge that he is now with Mom. He missed her so.

I’ll miss my Dad, as so many of us both family and friends will. We’re so pleased and impressed with the outpouring of sympathy and support we have received. It has given us a good deal of peace of mind knowing he wanted to stay in his home as much as he could with so many of you always checking in on him and always being there for him. Thank you.
Dad was proud to serve his spiritual community over the years, as with his exemplary service as a 4th degree Knight of Columbus, and past Grand Knight. He looked forward to “Putting on his Regalia” to participate in a Knights of Columbus function. His participation included assisting in many of the Church’s highest services.
Dad loved sailing and taught so many of us to sail. Starting with his ‘Blue Jay’, and enjoying the camaraderie and fun of being in the Lake Wallanpaupack Yacht Club, as a lifetime member as well as a past Commodore. He was so proud his Catalina made the cover of both the yacht clubs annual book as well as an areas ‘Things to Do’ brochure.
Dad didn’t talk much about his military service. When we took him and Mom to the Dedication of the WWII Memorial in Washington, D.C. we realized he was one of 7 survivors of a nighttime Japanese paratroop attack in the Philippines. (He and the others were awarded the Bronze Service Star). We also took Dad and Mom to a reunion of the ‘Jungle Skippers’ in St. Louis. One of his, and our, proudest moments was when he presented the new Commander with the Coat of Arms he designed for the group and the Commander presented the Bronze Service Star Award to these men. He was always my first call on Veterans Day to say ‘thank you’ for your service.
For so many of us, he was a role model for a life led with a strong foundation in Honesty, Integrity, Persistence and a desire to help others in need.. always. He was a Boy Scout Leader and the Chairman of Troop 550 in Brooklyn for many years and did his best to instill these basic values in so many young men. He enjoyed being in the woods camping and I have fond memories of the awe that struck us at night during ‘Order of the Arrow’ ceremonies when he devised ways to have fire come down from the sky and burst the camp bonfire to life! I remember how proud he felt at his Grandsons’ Billy and Joe’s Eagle Scout award presentations. His work will be carried on and not be forgotten.
In closing I can only say thank you to you all for being here with us. We take comfort in knowing his journey to be with Mom was with an ease we all can only hope for.
God Bless You All, and Thank you.

Jerry was a great man. He has been my friend for a long time. He was one of the kindest men I have ever known. Even though I live in California, we kept in touch on the phone and when ever I visited the Poconos. Jerry was always available on a moments notice when I needed help around my Mom's home in Greentown. Jerry was full of life and devoted to his church. Just last week, I was back in PA for my Mom's funeral. Jerry was kind enough to read some of the sentiments that people wrote about my Mom. Everyone at the church enjoyed him. We enjoyed a nice meal at the Boat House just last Monday. He told me how much he enjoyed staying with his children during the winter. He would take long walks and read good books. Jerry was a vibrant and energetic man. I know that Jerry is in Heaven. I will miss him and think of him often. I would like to extend my respects with the entire Matarazzo family.
Respectfully,
Darrel Casalino
