John A. Veltri III, age 52, of Hawley died Friday, September 21, 2012, at VA Medical Center, Wilkes-Barre. He is survived by his wife of 25 years, the former Lyn Marie Kauffman.
Born November 10, 1959, in Scranton, he was the son of Doc and Ann (Kochis) Veltri Jr. of Troop. A graduate of Bishop O'Hara High School, he also served in the US Navy from 1977 to 1981. Formerly of Troop, he was a Hawley resident for 21 years and was a member of BVM Queen Of Peace Roman Catholic Church, Hawley. He was an avid hunter and had worked for Gene Van Orden for 25 years. He was a wonderful father whose proudest achievement was being a father to his three daughters. He was also a beloved uncle, brother, cousin and friend.
In addition to his wife and parents, he is also survived by three daughters: Marceilla Veltri of Bluffton, SC; Rebecca Veltri and her husband David Mead of San Diego, CA; and Kristina Veltri of Chicago, IL; a granddaughter: Antoinette Veltri of San Diego, CA; and four sisters: Andrea Riccardo of Dunmore, Paula Davis of Waymart, Tre' Harris and her husband Jack of Moscow, PA, and Angela Veltri; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Christopher Veltri, and nephews, Phillip Matone and Allen Rhyner.
Calling hours will be Tuesday, September 25, from 4 to 7 PM at Teeters' East Chapel, 505 Church St, Hawley, PA. The Funeral Mass will be Wednesday, September 26, at 10:00 AM at BVM Queen Of Peace Roman Catholic Church, 314 Chestnut Ave, Hawley, with Rev. Richard W. Beck, Pastor officiating. Private cremation will be held at Lake Region Crematory, Lake Ariel.
