Joseph Patrick "Joe" Jones, 43, of Goose Pond, Lake Wallenpaupack, died early Sunday morning, Feb. 13, from injuries sustained as result of a snowmobile accident near Epply Island on Lake Wallenpaupack. He was a devoted son, father, brother, uncle and friend. Joe was born on July 5, 1967, in Falls Church, VA, and was the son of John and Vivien Jones, also of Lake Ariel. He is survived by his parents; two children, William (Billy) and Kimberly (Kimmy); as well as his brother, Attorney John W. Jones; his sister-in-law, Karen Jones; his nephew John and niece Jacqulin. Joe was a graduate of Wallenpaupack Area High School, Class of 1985, and was a local businessman and realtor with Century 21 Smith Realty Group. Joe was an expert martial artist and skilled athlete. Joe was also a gifted writer. His creativity and passion for life inspired him to write several short stories and a novel, which he was in the process of developing into a screenplay when his life was cut short this weekend on the lake he loved. Joe's best attribute was his willingness to help anyone with anything. His countless acts of friendship and good deeds will long be remembered as the hallmark of a life spent embracing and enjoying his family and friends. His eternal optimism, compassion, sense of humor and smile shall be deeply missed. Joe's family will be receiving friends and well-wishers at Teeters' East Chapel, 505 Church St., Hawley, on Wednesday, Feb. 16, from 3 to 5:30 PM. A Prayer Service will follow at 5:30 PM at the funeral home with Rev. Richard W. Beck, Pastor of BVM Queen of Peace RC Church, officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, 26 Broadway, 14th Floor, New York, NY 10004, or www.jdrf.org.
