Obituary of Bertha M. Tintle

Bertha M. Tintle, age 90, of Ormond Beach, FL, and formerly of Hawley, died Tuesday, September 6, 2011, at Wayne Memorial Hospital in Honesdale. She was predeceased by her husband, John F. Tintle Jr., in 2002. Mrs. Tintle was born April 30, 1921, in Paterson, NJ, and was the daughter of the late David and Edna (Fletcher) McDougall. She and her husband, John, owned and operated Church Street Hardware from 1964 to 1975 and she was later the head teller at Hawley Bank for many years. She was a volunteer at Mainland Community Hospital in Florida and the Hawley Library and was a Sunday school teacher at Cole Memorial Baptist Church. Mrs. Tintle was a member of Ormond Beach Methodist Church and former member Hawley United Methodist Church where she was a Pastor-Parish Relations Committee member. She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law: John and Lauren Tintle III of Hawley, PA, and Jeffrey F. and Diane Tintle of Allentown, PA; six grandchildren: nine great grandchildren; two sisters: Dorothy Babb of Jacksonville, FL, and Barbara Lime of West Palm Beach, FL; and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held Saturday, September 17, 2011, at 2 PM at Hawley United Methodist Church, 315 Church St., Hawley with Rev. Martin L. Cox, Jr., Pastor, officiating. Burial will be at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL. Memorials may be made to Hawley United Methodist Church, 315 Church St., Hawley, PA 18428.
