Obituary of Lydia Angelina Colon

Lydia Angelina "Cookie" Colon, passed away on Saturday, January 25, 2014. She was born in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico, to the late Antonio Roman and Angelina Rivera-Roman.
She and her family moved to New York City when she was a young girl. She grew up on the Lower East Side of Manhattan, and as a teenager, she loved spending her Saturday night's at the Sloan Community Center on 7th Street dancing to Doo Wop, wearing her poodle skirt.
Cookie, her husband Duke (Cecilio), and her boys, Ray (Ramon) and Chilo (Cecilio III) relocated to Masthope Rapids in Lackawaxen in the late 70's. Being with family and close friends was Cookie's passion and delight. She was a homemaker and very meticulous about maintaining her home. In her younger years, Cookie loved to knit and crochet, and enjoyed arts and crafts. She was also very diligent about her work responsibilities prior to becoming physically challenged. Cookie also loved to dance and sing, as she had a beautiful and harmonious voice.
Cookie is survived by her husband, Cecilio, her two daughters, Doris and Caroline, her two sons, Ramon and Cecilio III, her step-son Randal, her brother, Antonio, Jr., her sister Diane, many grandchildren and several great grandchildren. She also leaves behind numerous loving relatives living across the globe and wonderful friends in Lackawaxen and New York.
Cookie's Visitation will take place on Friday, January 31, starting at 9:00AM at Teeters' Funeral Chapel in Hawley, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00AM at Queen of Peace Church. Cookie's cremains will be interred in the spring at Queen of Peace Cemetery alongside her predeceased grand daughter, Jessica, whom she loved and adored. For those of you who knew Cookie, you know that she is no longer suffering in pain and is now at peace with her Lord Jesus.
