Obituary of Joseph J. Milewski

Joseph John Milewski, husband of Elaine Iacozza Antonini Milewski, of Hawley, formerly of Bridgeport and Southbury, CT, passed away on Thursday, November 10, 2011, after a courageous battle with leukemia. Born in Bridgeport, CT, on May 28, 1929, to the late Vincenti and Teofila Gelozin Milewski, Joe graduated from Harding High School, Fairfield University and the University of Connecticut, and served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. Joe retired from the US Postal Service, Bridgeport, CT, in 1992, spending his retirement in Hawley, PA. In addition to his wife, Joe is survived by his sisters: Marion Morris of Southbury, CT, and Regina Falkowski of Stratford, CT; several nieces and nephews: Virginia (Ron) Cartwright, Vincent (Elizabeth) Morris, Gloria Falkowski, Barbara (Michael) Fusco, Nancy Milewski and Bonnie Signore; five stepdaughters: Sheree (Thomas) Cherry and Donna (Richard) Donenfeld, both of Connecticut, Teresa Brim of California, Susan (Steven) Cote of Kentucky, and Laura (Robert) Taurchini of Colorado; and eight step grandchildren. He was predeceased by his brothers, John and Vincent. Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 12, at Teeters' East Chapel, 505 Church St., Hawley, from 3 to 6 PM. Additional visitation will be held at the Abriola Funeral Home, Trumbull CT, on Monday, November 14. A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, November 15, at St. Michael's Church, Bridgeport, CT. Interment will follow at St. Michaels's Cemetery, Stratford, CT.
