Regina B. Bennett, age 87, of Hawley died Saturday, May 5, 2012, at Wayne Memorial Hospital in Honesdale. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wesley Robert (Bob) Bennett in 2003. Born August 10, 1924, in Hawley, PA, she was the daughter of the late Carl and Jeneva (Sullivan) Beilman. She was a graduate of Hawley High School, Class of 1941, and attended East Stroudsburg College. She graduated from Misericordia Hospital School of Nursing in 1945. She was a registered nurse at Wayne Memorial Hospital for over 35 years until her retirement in 1985. Mrs. Bennett was a member of BVM Queen Of Peace Roman Catholic Church, Hawley, and the Altar & Rosary Society at Queen of Peace, PA State Nurses Association, Dorflinger-Suydam Sanctuary, and the Hawley Area Historical Society. She also volunteered at Dessin Animal Shelter in Honesdale. She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law: Donna and James Jennings and Geralyn and DJ Roberts, all of Hawley; three grandchildren: Matthew and Steven Jennings and Lyndi Roberts; and two great grandchildren: Ethan and Ava. Calling hours will be Tuesday, May 8, from 9:15 to 10:15 AM at Teeters' East Chapel, 505 Church St, Hawley, PA. The Funeral Mass will be Tuesday, May 8, at 10:30 AM at BVM Queen of Peace Roman Catholic Church, 314 Chestnut Ave, Hawley. Burial will follow at B.V.M. Queen Of Peace Cemetery, Hawley. Memorials may be made to Dessin Animal Shelter, 138 Miller Rd., Honesdale, PA 18431 or the donor's favorite charity.
