Obituary of Laverne C. McCutcheon

Laverne C. McCutcheon, age 91, passed away on Sunday, June 17, 2012 at Ellen Memorial Health Care Center in Honesdale.
Mrs. McCutcheon was born December 10, 1920 at Newark, NJ and was the daughter of the late Valentine and Margaret (Gillum) Johnson. She was of the Catholic faith and a graduate of the Newark public school system. Laverne was one of ten Johnson children. She was predeceased by a son, Thomas, who died in Longmont, CO in Nov. of 2010.
Her working career was spent at the Lockheed Martin Corporation, assembling component parts for the aerospace industry at the Singer plant in Little Falls, NJ.
Her pastime hobbies include sewing, crocheting, and was an avid cook and homemaker. She maintained a healthy bowling average and was league secretary for several years. She was also an above average fisherman, and maintained a bed and breakfast in New York State.
Laverne was married for twenty years to LaVere P. Maneval, of Pequannock, NJ.
She married Charles "Pat" McCutcheon in 1970. Both lived in Newfoundland, NJ before relocating to Saranac, NY upon retirement. Pat was responsible for creating several senior citizen housing communities in the North Country under the Mario Cuomo administration. Her husband, Pat, died in April 2003.

She is survived by one daughter: LaVerne Pelak of Whiting, NJ and one son: James Maneval of Lakeville, PA; two grandchildren, Jodi Linn & Steve Elkins of Rego Park, Queens, NY and Jeffrey David & Melissa Maneval of Canandaigua, NY. She was blessed with three great grandchildren: Jackson & Haidyn Elkins and Charles Andrew Maneva; two sisters: Marion Wagner of Whiting, NJ, Violet Francis of Midwest City, OK and two brothers: Robert Johnson of Bellville, NJ, Elmer Johnson of Blairstown, NJ.
At the request of Laverne, there will be no viewing. Cremation was at Lake Region Crematory in Lake Ariel, PA.
