Obituary of Neil A. Wischerth

Neil A. Wischerth, age 91, of Woodloch Springs, Hawley, died Thursday, February 5, 2015, at Bon Secours Community Hospital, Port Jervis. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Rita L. (Maggiolo) Wischerth. They were married April 19, 1947.
Born August 21, 1923, in Brooklyn, NY, he was the son of the late Gustavus and Marie (Hoffmann) Wischerth. He grew up in Hempstead, Long Island, and was a graduate of Hempstead High School. He served in the Army Air Corps in the European Theatre of Operation during World War II.
He worked as a banker for Dime Savings Bank of New York for 43 years prior to his retirement in 1984. During those years, he was a member of the Kiwanis Club in Brooklyn.
He and his wife Rita had been residents of Woodloch Springs since 1991. He was a member of BVM Queen Of Peace Roman Catholic Church, Hawley, PA, where he was very active with the food pantry program. He was a member of the the golf and bowling leagues at Woodloch Springs and served as treasurer of the Springs Times, the community newspaper.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons: Lawrence Wischerth and his wife Joyce of Wantagh, NY, and Jeffrey Wischerth and his wife Margherita of N. Babylon, NY; five grandchildren: Christopher Wischerth and his wife Danielle, Lisa DellaRatta and her husband Jason, Lauren Privitera and her husband Matthew, Matthew Wischerth and Victoria Wischerth; three great grandchildren: Isabelle, Mia and Declan; and one sister: Annette Myck of Austin, TX.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Clare Martin.
Visitation will be Saturday, February 6, from 3 to 7 PM at Teeters' East Chapel, 505 Church St, Hawley, PA. Additional visitation will be held Tuesday, February 10, from 6 to 9 PM at William E. Law Funeral Home, 1 Jersusalem Ave., Massapequa, NY. There will be Funeral Mass on Wednesday, February 11, at 10:00 AM at St. William The Abbot RC Church, 2000 Jackson Ave., Seaford, NY. Burial will be in Holy Rood Cemetery, Westbury, LI, NY.
