Obituary of Albert Gillette

Albert Gillette, age 83, of Hawley died Friday, May 1, 2015, at Wayne Memorial Hospital, Honesdale. He was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy (Anke) Gillette, in 1980.
Born September 9, 1931, in Dunmore, PA, he was the son of the late Gaetano "Guy" and Jospehine (Ciero) Gillette. A lifelong resident of Hawley, he was a graduate of Hawley High School.
In his early years he had been an employee of the Erie-Lackawanna Railroad and also a route salesman for Pepsi Bottling Company. He retired last year after 50 years as a salesman for Pennsylvania Paper and Supply.
Al was a member of BVM Queen Of Peace Roman Catholic Church where he was a 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus, Rev. William B. Healey Council #797, and served as head of the Knights of Columbus Honor Guard. He was a member of the Board of Directors of the Green Gates Cemetery Association and a former member of Bellemonte Hunting Club. He was an avid bowler and loved his '81 Cadillac Eldorado Roadster.
He is survived by his son: Ronald Gillette and his wife Jackie of Cape Coral, FL; his longtime companion: Susan Springer of Honesdale; two sisters-in-law: Regina "Jean" Gillette of Hawley and Dolores Gillette of Allentown; and his extended family: daughter: Lisa Evans and her husband Frank; two grandsons: Christopher and Geoffrey Evans; a great grandchild: Taylor Dille; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Guy Jr. and Charles Gillette, and a sister, Rose Marie Bebensee.
Calling hours will be Wednesday, May 6, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM at Teeters' East Chapel, 505 Church St, Hawley, PA. The Funeral Mass will be held Thursday, May 7, at 10:00 AM at BVM Queen Of Peace Roman Catholic Church, 314 Chestnut Ave, Hawley, with Rev. Richard W. Beck, Pastor officiating. Burial will be in Green Gates Cemetery, Hawley.
