Obituary of Robert D Moore

Robert Derl Moore, age 75, of Hawley died Thursday, June 23, 2016, at home. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Joan Susan (Frank) Moore.
Born September 21, 1940, in Berwick, PA, he was the son of the late Derl P. and Jennie (Rough) Moore. Robert was a graduate of Berwick High School in 1958 and attended Williamsport Technical School to be an aviation mechanic. He received his Associate's Degree from Ursinus College. He worked for Bell of PA and AT&T and, after retiring from AT&T, he started his own electronics repair business which he operated for many years.
He was an active member of Blessed Virgin Mary Queen of Peace RC Church in Hawley and was an active member of the Paupack Township Planning Commission for over 30 years.
After retirement, he and his wife enjoyed many warm winters in Florida via their motorhome and later their condo. He took great pride in cheering his grandson's sports achievements at Wallenpaupack Area High School. He was an avid reader and collector of WW II books and movies. One of his fondest memories was a cruise that he took with his wife, daughters and sons-in-law which visited England, Scotland, Ireland and the WWII D-Day beaches in Normandy, France.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters: Valerie Hyduchak and her husband Joseph of Lakeville, Patricia Moore Meter and her husband Dr. Richard Meter of Vass, NC, and Roberta Moore and her husband William Marsh of West New York, NJ; three grandchildren: Andrew, Stephen and Matthew Hyduchak; his brother: David Moore; two sisters: Gladys Thumhart and Ruth Harmon; and many beloved cousins, nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be Monday, June 27, from 2 to 5 PM at Teeters' East Chapel, 505 Church St, Hawley, PA. There will be additional visitation at the funeral home Tuesday,June 28, at 9 AM before leaving for the church. The Funeral Mass will be Tuesday, June 28, at 10:00 AM at BVM Queen Of Peace Roman Catholic Church, 314 Chestnut Ave, Hawley, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated by Rev. Richard W. Beck, Pastor. Burial will be in B.V.M. Queen Of Peace Cemetery, Hawley, following the Mass.
