Obituary of Adolph Hegenbart

Adolph Hegenbart, age 87, of Hawley died Tuesday, April 22, 2014 at Wayne Memorial Hospital in Honesdale. Mr. Hegenbart was born March 26, 1927 in Grafenfeld, Gottschee, and was the son of the late Adolf and Josephine (Krajec) Hegenbart. He was predeceased by his wife of 53 years, Elizabeth (Bendele) Hegenbart in 2004. In March of 1939 he moved from Gottschee to Ridgewood, Queens, NY. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1945 to 1949 earning the rank of Sargent and from 1955 to 1990 was a meat cutter by trade. He loved to hunt, fish and play cards. Adolph was an extremely dedicated family man and was a member of American Legion, Wilson-Kelch Post 311, Hawley, PA 18428 He is survived by one daughter: Jane Eyring of Hawley, PA; one granddaughter, Kimberely & her husband, Matthew Mongon of Lansdale, PA; two great grandsons, Thomas & Steven Mongon A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, April 25th at 10 AM at St Mary Magdalen RC Church, Church St, Honesdale. Burial will be at B.V.M. Queen of Peace Cemetery in Hawley.
