Obituary of Dorothy L. Krehel

Dorothy L. Krehel, age 74, of Bangor died Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at home. She is survived by her husband Thomas R. Krehel. Born November 7, 1942, in Honesdale, PA, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Margaret "Peg" (Laskey) DeGroat. She was a graduate of Hawley High School, Class of 1961. She and Tom were married on Sept. 9, 1961. Prior to her retirement, she was an office worker at a concrete block company. An avid bingo player, she and her husband Tom traveled extensively in their younger years. Her greatest joy however was caring for her family at home. In addition to her husband Tom, she is survived by one daughter: Terri Krehel of Bangor; one son: Tom Krehel Jr. of Pen Argyl; one sister: Carolyn Healey of Mountaintop; a granddaughter: Sophia Zayas; a sister-in-law: Elaine Brucato of Port Jervis, NY; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother, William DeGroat. Calling hours will be Monday, February 6, from 10 to 12 noon at Teeters' East Chapel, 505 Church St, Hawley, PA. The funeral will follow Monday at 12:00 noon at the funeral home with Rev Douglas Rhine, Pastor of Blooming Grove Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Lords Valley Cemetery, Lords Valley, following the service.
