George John Schwarz, Jr. - December 15, 1927 to February 10, 2017. Loving husband of Marian for 64 years until her passing in 2015. Loving father to six daughters – Christine Moser (husband: Jay), Wanda Strawn (husband: Clifford), Gail Cardella (husband: Anthony), Katharina Ceretta (husband: Richard), Norma Schwarz, Joy Baggetta (husband: Anthony) Grandfather of 10 – Catherine Vieux, Jay Moser, Jr, Rebecca Elliott, Kenneth Strawn, Alison Strawn, George Cardella, Tracy Cardella, Sara Thompson, John Baggetta, Daniel Baggetta; and Great-grandfather of 10 – Nathan Vieux, Monique Vieux, Aden Vieux, Annabelle Vieux, Levi Vieux, Marianna Vieux, Madelyn Elliott, Aaron Elliott, Gabriel Elliott and "Baby" Moser (not yet named). He was born, raised and lived most of his life on Staten Island, NY (Stapleton and Grant City) and is a graduate of Curtis High School. He served his country in the U.S. Merchant Marines during W.W. II, on petroleum naphtha fuel ships, performing boiler maintenance. He worked for Loft Candy Co, as a steam fitter for Con Edison and worked in the boiler room on the Staten Island Ferries. He also worked for the NYC Department of Sanitation as a crane oiler/ operator; at NYC Police Headquarters, as Chief Maintenance Engineer; and as a maintenance engineer for Sun Chemical Co. Among his community service acumens are that he taught bugle to poor, youth members, of the Staten Island "Thunderbirds" drum and bugle corps. He also judged drum and bugle/marching band competitions. He was a member of the Masons and served as a member of Klopstock Lodge #760 and Grand-Master of the 9th Manhattan District. In 1991 he and Marian retired to Hawley, PA, and volunteered as an ambulance driver for the Fire Dept. He sang with the Wayne Choralaires, and was a member of the Lake Wallenpaupack German-American Club. As a member of Bethel Lutheran Church, Rowland, PA, he served the Lord in the choir and other various positions. He was an avid Giants football fan, enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and loved to fish. Most of all he was a GREAT DAD! Calling hours will be Thursday, February 16th from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM at Teeters' East Chapel, 505 Church St, Hawley, PA. The funeral will be Friday, February 17th at 10 AM at Bethel Lutheran Church, Church Road, Rowland with Rev. Norman R. Beighley, Pastor officiating. Burial will be in Ferncliff Cemetery, Hartsdale, NY. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to Bethel Lutheran Church, 193 Church Rd, Rowlands, PA 18457
