Sonya Gerda Gumble, age 75, of Hawley died Friday, March 24, 2017 at Wayne Memorial Hospital, Honesdale. Born January 8, 1942, in Brooklyn, NY, she was the daughter of the late Fred and Gerda Baumann.
Prior to her retirement, she worked as a waitress. Although she enjoyed gardening,puzzles and traveling, her favorite thing was to hike the Canal Trail around Hawley with her grandchildren and grandpuppies.
She is survived by two daughters: Janette Cortright of Hawley and Renee Gumble Wolk of Waymart; two sons: Michael Cortright and Mark Gumble, both of Hawley; one brother: Herbert Baumann of Hawley; and five grandchildren: Trevor Keleher, Joseph Cortright, Amanda Wolk, Jeremy Cortright and David Gumble.
There will be a Celebration of Life at 1PM on Saturday, April 29, at the Heslin home, 511 Lakeshore Dr., Lakeville. Private cremation was held at Lake Region Crematory, Lake Ariel.
