Thomas E. Engvaldsen, age 71, of Fawn Lake Forest, Hawley died following an illness on Tuesday, April 18, 2017, at Gino Merli Veterans Center, Scranton. He is survived by his wife, Rosemary E. (Jones) Engvaldsen. There were married on March 2, 1968. Born July 15, 1945, in Brooklyn, NY, he was the son of the late Vincent and Viola Edna (Wassmer) Engvaldsen. An Army veteran who served during the Vietnam War, he was a self-employed carpenter who owned Engvaldsen Builders and ProPave prior to his retirement. An avid hunter and fisherman, he also dearly loved his horses. He was a past member of Tafton Scuba Team and Hillview Hunting Club. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his two daughters: Brenda L. Engvaldsen of Hawley and Julie A. Marks of Taylors, SC; his son: Bryan T. Engvaldsen of Hawley; six grandchildren: Summer, Rylee, Ingrid, Erika, Nicholas and Mia; two sisters: Gladys Rabey of Cape May, NJ and Evelyn Strasser of Honesdale; and two brothers: Robert and Alan Engvaldsen, both of Hawley. Calling hours will be Saturday from 12 to 3:30 PM at Teeters' East Chapel, 505 Church St, Hawley, PA. The funeral will follow at 3:30 PM at the funeral home with Rev. Norman Beighley of Bethel Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will be in Rowland Cemetery, Rowland.
