Obituary of Dennis Arthur Manhart

Dennis Arthur Manhart, age 81, of Greentown died Wednesday, May 24, 2017 at Regional Hospital Of Scranton with his wife by his side after a long battle with Parkinson's disease. Mr. Manhart was born January 20, 1936 in South Sterling, PA and was the son of the late Arthur and Laura (Probst) Manhart. He was also predeceased by an infant daughter, Krista Lynn Manhart and a brother, Edward Manhart. Denny owned Dennis Manhart Building Contractor and built many custom homes around Lake Wallenpaupack. He served in the 109th National Guard in Honesdale, PA and was a member of the Salem Lodge #330 F & AM. He served on the Palmyra Township planning commission for over 40 years. Denny enjoyed playing golf and was a former member of Paupack Hills Golf Club. He and Joyce wintered at Heritage Palms Golf Club in Ft. Myers, FL for 28 years. He traveled west for many years to hunt big game. Most of all Denny loved his family and having them gather at his home. The lights of his life were his grandchildren, Wesley & Michaela. He is survived by his wife of 58 years: Joyce Ann (Bartleson) Manhart; daughter & son-in-law, LeeAnn & Wes Hearn of Greentown, PA; son & daughter-in-law, Scott & Tracey Manhart of Greentown, PA; two grandchildren, Wesley & Michaela Hearn; sister & brother-in-law, James & Donna Lee of Newfoundland, PA; sister-in-law, Sarah Manhart of New Cumberland, PA; mother-in-law, Doris Bartleson of St Mary's Villa, Elmhurst, PA. Calling hours will be Wednesday, May 31st from 10 to 11:30AM at Paupack United Methodist Church, 579 Route 507, Paupack, PA, followed by a memorial service at 11:30. Inurnment will be in Pine Grove Cemetery in Paupack at a later date.
